My History as a t-shirt designer: My first screen printed t-shirt was as a highschool senior, I attempted a shirt for my band at the time, Breakfast With Idiots. A few years later, in college, at the San Francisco Art Institute I created a Yoko Ono tee-shirt. And then a few years later began work in the art department of Cosmic Debris, the San Francisco t-shirt company (Emily The Strange, Yum Pop, Oopsy Daisy, Eleven Eleven Groop) created by my friend Rob Reger, who I met while studying at the San Francisco Art Institute.
Although there wasn’t enough work for me in the early days, I worked part time, I was the first employee to be hired dedicated to the Emily The Strange character. I worked closely with Rob for many years, and when the company grew, I became the art director. During my time at Cosmic, Rob and I also co-created Oopsy Daisy, Princess Pretty, and Sidney Punk with me taking over design and illustration duties, and we also co-created and co-wrote the cartoon short Boyz On Da Run, which aired on Disney Channel in the mid 00s.
